Shipping Address Format: How to Write a Package Address Correctly

Shipping Address Format—In today’s digital and modern age, most of us send packages using courier or shipping services, whether it’s cargo, express, or other options. Have you ever noticed something important about a shipment?

Come to mind? Yes, that’s right—the most important thing is the shipping address format. Imagine if you wrote it incorrectly—would the package reach its destination? It might arrive, but it would be very confusing for the delivery staff because you didn’t write it correctly.

Perfect timing—in this article, we’ll share the correct format for a shipping address on a package.

Be sure to read the article.

Important Things to Consider When Writing a Shipping Address

Actually, the address information on a package is quite simple, but many people still overlook it—whether because they don’t know how or simply forget to include it. So, take a look at the correct format below:

Recipient’s and Sender’s Names

First and foremost, a package’s destination address must include both the recipient’s and sender’s names—just don’t write your ex’s name, or it might end up being delivered to the past. Hahaha. The purpose of including both names is to help the courier deliver the package.

Write the names clearly and in full, exactly as they appear on an ID card—whether it’s a KTP, driver’s license, or passport. You can include nicknames like “Bang Hose” and others. Sometimes neighbors don’t know the recipient’s real name but recognize them by their nickname. Cases like this do happen.

In addition to the recipient’s name, you must also write the sender’s name completely and clearly. This information is important because the courier will contact you if the relevant party cannot be verified.

The recipient can also identify the sender of the package. That way, they won’t be surprised when they receive a package from you.

Recipient and Sender Addresses

Don’t write a fake address—or else the delivery person might end up singing on the street.

Write the correct shipping address using the following format:

  • Street name, alley name, and house number, along with RT and RW (if applicable)
  • House number (if applicable)
  • Name of the village, subdistrict, or hamlet, along with the district, city, and province.
  • The ZIP code is required,
  • Landmarks that can help the courier deliver your package
  • Destination country if you’re sending a package overseas

Make sure all the address details above are written correctly and completely. The more complete the information, the better, as it will make things easier for the shipping service, the courier, and the recipient later on.

Also, make sure the writing is legible—after all, you’re not at the doctor’s office, so it doesn’t have to be in doctor’s handwriting. Hahaha.

Phone Number

Finally, provide your phone number—one where you can be reached. Make sure the number is active.
