Import Notification in Indonesia
Indonesia’s import policies have a significant impact on the country’s economy. As a developing country, Indonesia relies on imported goods to meet domestic needs and boost domestic productivity. Nevertheless, the Indonesian government has taken appropriate measures to ensure that imports are conducted safely and responsibly.
One of the policies the government has implemented regarding the import of goods is the import notification requirement. According to Law No. 10 of 2020 on International Trade, importers must submit a notification to the government at least five days before commencing the import of goods. This notification must include information on the type and quantity of goods to be imported, as well as the purpose and destination of the import.
In addition, the government has also established a policy requiring importers to fulfill the necessary documentation requirements before importing goods. One of the mandatory documents is the Import Certificate (SKI). This document must be issued by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and verified by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The SKI not only helps importers meet documentation requirements but also assists the government in monitoring imported goods.

Furthermore, the government has established policies regarding the supervision of imported goods. To ensure that imported goods are suitable for sale in Indonesia, the government has implemented import supervision policies. One such policy is the import inspection policy. These import inspections are conducted by the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Both ministries will inspect goods intended for import to ensure they meet quality and legal requirements.
Indonesia’s import policies are part of the government’s efforts to ensure that imports proceed safely and in an orderly manner. By adhering to these policies, importers can more easily import goods without worrying about being prosecuted for illegal activities. Consequently, Indonesia’s import policies will help boost domestic economic productivity and improve the well-being of the Indonesian people.
